Orange Peel
Citrus sinensis
Considered to be golden apples by the Greeks, oranges are originally from Asia. The early Moors transported orange trees to Spain, then the Spanish and Portugese explorers brought them over to our "New World." Now these "golden apple" trees are grown extensively in Florida and California. You surely know how great the inside fruit tastes, and you may have used a bit of orange peel in recipes to give your food a uniquely piquant taste. But did you know the peel was once used as a snuff to provoke sneezing? In 17th century Rome, such sneezing bouts were considered useful for clearing the head.
Commonly called: orange peel, whole dried oranges
