Celestial Seasonings has always believed that the goodness of our teas should be exceeded only by the goodness of our actions toward our world. We know that our efforts truly make a difference in our local community and all around the world.

Ethical Trade

Because we've had relationships with many growers around the world for more than 30 years (some spanning three generations of the same family), it's important to us that our workers are treated fairly and with respect. That's why we do our best to ensure that all of our ingredients – from chamomile grown in an Egyptian village to spearmint harvested in the Pacific Northwest – are produced in accordance with our Ethical Trade philosophy.

Together with the growers – our partners in our dedication to Ethical Trade – we ensure that the botanicals Celestial Seasonings purchases are brought to market at a price that accurately reflects the cost of labor associated with their production. The assurance of a fair market price nurtures local businesses, creates jobs and empowers our farmers to continue growing our herbs, teas and botanicals for many more years to come.

Our Communities: Global, National and Local

We've always given back to charities and social organizations in our home state of Colorado, across the country and around the world. These efforts have included:

  • Trees For The Future. Already in 2009, we've sponsored the planting of more than one million trees by Trees for the Future, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the standard of living of people in Latin America, Africa and Asia through beneficial tree planting and resource education. By planting trees in developing countries, Trees for the Future helps local communities improve their standards of living while still preserving their traditional ways of life.
  • National Breast Cancer Foundation. We created a special line of healthy, delicious green teas for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our donation assisted NBCF in their mission to increase breast cancer awareness through education and provide mammograms to those in need.
  • Heart Truth Campaign. Through our Red Dress promotions and specially created teas, we helped raise awareness of heart disease in women.
  • St. Baldrick's Foundation. Our employee team of "Bald Zingers" has collected more than $32,000 in donations for annual St. Baldrick's Foundation Shave-a-Thons.
  • Bolder Boulder. We're a major sponsor of the Bolder Boulder, the largest 10k road race in the nation.
  • Best Buddy Program. We've donated thousands of stuffed Sleepytime Bears to help children who have had traumatic experiences work through their communication barriers.
  • Blue Sky Bridge Child and Family Advocacy Program. We support this program that works to end child abuse through prevention and intervention.
  • Emergency Family Assistance Association. We contribute to this group to help members of our local community meet their daily needs and work toward self-sufficiency.
  • We're active members of the American Botanicals Council (ABC), the Organic Trade Association (OTA), the Organic Center for Education and Promotion (OCEP), the American Spice Trade Association (ASTA) and the Tea Association of the USA.
  • In addition to receiving generous benefits like wellness and tuition reimbursement, our employees are encouraged to donate their time and efforts toward the charitable causes that are most important to them.
