Best Buddy Program

The Best Buddy program was developed and launched by the Colorado Crime Prevention Association (CCPA) and Celestial Seasonings in January 1985. In an effort to break down communication barriers, Sleepytime® Teddy Bears are distributed to traumatized children. The program has been recognized and utilized by law enforcement personnel around Colorado and the United States.

Since its inception, inquiries into how to start similar programs have arrived from all parts of the U.S., Australia, Canada, England and Germany. A Sleepytime Bear was put on display in the Australian Teddy Bear Land and Museum. Another went to the Colorado State Museum by request of the Colorado Historical Society "in view of the fact that this bear has a unique assignment and a worldwide reputation."

Pears have been enjoyed since antiquity, and writings about them appear in both ancient Greek and Roman works.
